Sewage cleanup

Sewage cleanup requires careful containment and removal.

Sewage can contain bacteria, and exposure may pose a health risk for some people. Keep people and pets out of the affected area while the First Responder assesses the damage.

We contain the area, remove water and materials that cannot be salvaged, clean and disinfect the space, and then dry it. Porous materials that have absorbed contaminated water generally need to be removed.

Remove

Removing the water and solids

Standing water and solids are extracted first. Sewage can contain bacteria, and exposure may pose a health risk for some people, so the crew works in full protective gear and we ask that people and pets stay out of the area until it has been disinfected.

Tear out

Removing porous contents and materials

Carpet, padding, drywall and other porous materials that absorbed contaminated water generally cannot be cleaned and are removed. What can be salvaged is set aside for cleaning.

Cleaning and disinfecting the area

Every surface the water touched is cleaned and then disinfected before anything is dried. This is the step that makes the space safe to use again.

Drying the area

Air movers and dehumidifiers dry the space and the materials that stayed. We record moisture readings as the drying runs, so the finish is measured rather than guessed.
